Updated Edition of David Arnoff's evocative book of rock photography – including 16 new images and additional text

This large-size hardback edition is printed on high-quality art paper to reflect

David Arnoff's striking photography.

Shot in the Dark sheds intimate light on the music and attitudes of the underground from the onset of punk to the present day.

David Arnoff's atmospheric black and white images, both candid and live, begin in 1976 L.A. They are a remarkable who's-who of everyone cool, from that initial spark onwards.

Hi Fructose magazine describes them as "Photographs drenched in emotionality, [they] convey a spontaneity and improvisation based on downright trust of the photographer, a kind of illicit intimacy rarely captured".

Shot in the Dark features artists who share the photographer's spirit of uncompromising individualism, including The Cramps, Patti Smith, The Damned, Lydia Lunch, The Ramones, Dead Boys, Nick Cave, Only Ones, Motorhead, Gun Club and Blondie, with contributions from many of them.

The deluxe hardback edition costs £39.99
